About our Therapist

Amy Benson is a fully qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor with experience working at two local GP surgeries, at Kingston University Health Centre, and within private practice.
She frequently works with symptoms and life issues including:
• depression
• anxiety
• low mood (often without knowing the cause)
• bereavement
• parenting concerns (including post-natal difficulties)
• relationship problems
• divorce and separation
• anger difficulties
• stress at work
• low self-esteem
• coping with a medical diagnosis
• abuse
Amy is trained in integrative counselling, which means she can draw on a range of psychological theories to suit you and your needs. These include CBT, psychodynamic theory, person-centred theory and existential theory. Ultimately she offers a friendly, safe, respectful and confidential relationship in which to explore your thoughts, fears or difficult feelings.
Amy is a member of the British Association of Counsellors & Psychotherapists (BACP), and adheres to its Ethical Framework. Amy is also on the BACP Accredited Register of Counsellors & Psychotherapists, which is accredited and recognised by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care.
