What is Rolfing/Structural Integration?
Rolfing is a series (usually around 10) of deep massage treatments, a form of hands-on manipulation and movement education which aim to re-establish the natural alignment and structural integration of the body. The therapist works on the connective tissue (fascia) to release, realign and balance the whole body.

What can I expect from Rolfing/Structural Integration at Kingston Natural Health Centre?
The client will attend about 10 sessions (10) each lasting about 90 minutes, with each session building on the one before. The treatments are progressive and usually concentrating on a certain part of the body. The aim is to by loosening up and balancing the connective tissue to bring harmony and alignment to the body and works at both the surface and deeper structures. It enhances your posture and freedom of movement. After the course of treatment is completed, the client can return for if they still need more help or want to maintain the structure in balance.

More about Rolfing/Structural Integration
was developed by Dr Ida Rolf in the 1970s. Dr Rolf had a PhD in Biochemistry and Physiology from Columbia University and later worked at the Rockefeller Institute in Chemotherapy and Organic Chemistry. She studied the effect of the body’s structure on its functioning and the result was “Rolfing”, or Structural Integration as it is often known.
