About our Therapist

I trained for three years at the London College of Traditional Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (LCTA) gaining a BSc honours degree in acupuncture.  I hold qualifications in acupuncture, reflexology, massage, pilates and reiki.

Currently I work with a wide range of conditions ranging from acute to chronic aliments and have a particular interest in treating couples for fertility, all stages of pregnancy from conception to postpartum care and children.  This has led to further studies in acupuncture with leading practitioners in this field such as Debra Betts, Jani White, Sarah Budd and Sabine Wilms.

I am a member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC), the UK’s largest regulatory body for TCM practitioners, and the Acupuncture Childbirth Team (ACT).  This is a group of acupuncture practitioners dedicated to supporting women through all stages of conception, pregnancy, child-birth and postum.

As well as the Kingston clinic, I also have practices in Richmond and Teddington.  Please feel free to contact me directly to discuss possible disorders that may be treated with acupuncture.

More about Victoria’s work

Acupuncture – Acupuncture works to help maintain your body’s equilibrium.  It involves the insertion of very fine needles into specific points on the body to regulate the flow of ‘qi’, your body’s vital energy. For a number of lifestyle and environmental reasons, qi can become disturbed, depleted or blocked, which can result in some symptoms of pain and illness.  Traditional acupuncture can be an effective therapy to help restore balance and promote physical and emotional harmony.  Treatment is aimed at the root of your condition as well as your main symptoms. This approach helps with resolving the condition and enhancing your feeling of wellbeing.  Many people return to acupuncture again and again because they find it so beneficial and relaxing.

Acupuncture is widely considered to be beneficial for a range of conditions and is often used in conjunction with western medicine.  Increasingly women are choosing to have acupuncture to support them throughout pregnancy, labour and after giving birth.  Please feel free to contact me directly to discuss possible disorders that that may treated with acupuncture.

Reflexology and maternity reflexology – Reflexology is a natural therapy that aims to promote the body’s own healing process.  All the body’s organs, glands and structures are mapped out in miniature on the hands and feet.  Illness, stress and fatigue all have the effect of throwing the body out of balance.  When gentle pressure is applied to these reflex points, it enhances the energy flow encouraging the body to heal itself and the systems to work again in unison.  Reflexology used in pregnancy can help ease tension and anxiety and prepare the body for labour and encourage a natural recovery following birth.

Pilates – Pilates will teach you to strengthen your ‘centre’ or ‘core’ in order to move efficiently.  This girdle of strength around your trunk, including your pelvic floor muscle, buttocks, hips, transversus abdominis and diaphragm, acts as a corset that stabilizes your spine and internal organs.

Pilates can help:
* Increase body tone and create longer leaner muscles
* Improve balance and concentration
* Increase strength, especially in the abdominal and back muscles
* Improve posture and flexibility
* Relief from many aches and pains

Pilates mat work is very safe.  Whether you are young or old, a fitness fanatic, someone who has never exercised before, a new mother wanting to gently get back into shape or someone suffering from an injury, you will reap the many benefits pilates has to offer.
