Having your baby at home
Planning to have a baby at home takes quite a bit of thinking about and organising. Even just making the decision that it’s OK to have your baby at home takes a lot of energy and consideration in the first place!
Some of the reasons that the women I have been privileged to care for have explained this as:
* I don’t like hospitals
* I want to be somewhere that I can relax
* I want to be with my family
* I want to have a midwife with me who I know and trust
* I want to be able to make my own choices
What’s your reason for being at home to give birth?
Julie says:
We planned a homebirth water birth because I love being in water and always have done. I didn’t know what to expect from the contractions but I instinctively knew that the warm water would support me and feel comforting. I am a private person and just wanted to have my partner and my midwives with me to keep everything calm and quiet.
