Continuing with our Therapist Focus series, we talk to one of Kingston Natural Health Centre’s Yoga Therapists, Jasmine Mejares.

Name: Jasmine Mejares
Age: 30
Therapy: Yoga Therapy

How long have you been practicing?
I picked up yoga at 17 years of age and have taught professionally since 2007.

Why this therapy?
My goal is to inspire people to be happy and gain personal acceptance and peace in their lives.  I found yoga to do this.

Where did you train?
I trained in Singapore and have taught in the US, Indonesia, Singapore and UK.

How long have you been at Kingston Natural Health Centre?
For 6 months.

Why is Kingston Natural Health Centre your choice of practice?
I love the warmth and support of all the practitioners and staff.

Are there any cases/patients that stand out in your career?
I’ve seen lives change. Individuals who were depressed or those physically in pain have renewed their lives and improved their quality of life.  Many of students have even changed their profession and decided to become yoga teachers – high praise indeed!

What stands out about your therapy?
With my chiropractic background I like to encompass a lot of physiotherapy and corrective postures whilst doing the yoga routine.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not fixing people?
Sunshine and Picnics!

What is your favourite food?
Pizza and ice cream.

What is the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning?
I welcome the world and look forward to a great day.

Can you give us 1 health tip?
Try to sit no longer than 20 minutes at a time – movement is the key to life!
