Therapist Focus – Janie Still

In addition to our popular blogs on natural wellbeing we are putting our therapists under the spot light.  To start us off with these interviews we find out what makes Janie Still tick.

Name: Janie Still
Age: 61
Therapy: Yoga & Hypnotherapy

How long have you been practicing?
Over 30 years

Why this Yoga & Hypnotherapy?
After 30 years of teaching Yoga & Meditation & being a Spritual Healer & Reflexologist in the U.S.& locally (Kingston & Epsom Surrey) I more recently decided to qualify as a Hypnotherapist to combine all of my knowledge into one therapy as I believe Hypnotherapy to be the most pertinent therapy for the 21st Century.

Where did you train?
Brian Jacobs of Hypnotic Solutions, Regents Park

How long have you been at Kingston Natural Health Centre?
Since February 2012

Why is Kingston Natural Health Centre your choice of practice?
I chose to work there as I have an affinity to Kingston having been born in Alexandra Road, Kingston in 1950

What stands out about your therapy?
I am currently working with the Hypno-Gastric-Band Programme which has a proven track record of being 80% successful as opposed to the surgical procedure which is 70% successful

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not fixing people?
When I’m not doing any of the above I enjoy spending time with my grandaughter, Nancy, going for walks, the gym, attending workshops & lectures, reading & writing.

Do you have any achievements personal or therapy related that you would like to share with us?
My biggest achievement occured in my twenties when I was totally out of control with what I consumed. I was struck down with both pleurisy & hepatitis simultaneously & almost died. I decided then & there to completely change all bad habits into health giving ones & turned to fasting, raw foods & yoga, that decision not only saved my life but taught me just what a magnificent self-healing machine the human body is, I have honoured my body ever since.

What is your favourite food?
My favourite food has to be avocado (organic chocolate a close second!)

What is the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning?
As soon as I wake up I drink a large glass of water followed by a smaller glass of water with lemon.

Can you give us a health tip?
It is so important to hydrate your body first thing as it becomes quite dehydrated overnight & is in need of replenishment.
